Abstract
The proper intensity and chromaticity of traffic signals and signs play a key role in the safe management of the traffic environment. Light Emitting Diode (LED) becomes the most important light emitting device for traffic signals and signs.

This thesis describes an experimental measurement system which will measure the luminous intensity of several types of traffic signals and signs, which are made of LEDs. Although chromaticity measurement will be mentioned, the thesis is focused on luminous intensity measurement. While there are many different types of traffic signals, this thesis will focus on the current measurement procedure of the 12-inch traffic signal and the improvement of the procedure. The measurement procedure for other types of LED-related signals and future development are also discussed.
