Abstract
This treatise is a composition based on the presence of the Trinity at the Creation as described in the Gospel of JOhn. the instrumentation is for Organ, two percussionist playing the following: Vibraphone, Marimba, Xylophone, Crotales, Tubular Bells, Temple Blocks, Gong, Suspended Cymbals,, Hi-Hats, Bass Drum, and Rain Stick: and Pre-Recoreded Sound for four loudspeakers and subwoofer (4.1). Additionally, a conductor and a sound engineer will be required for the performance of this work. the primary harmonic material is the pitch-class set 3-12 or the augmented chord. The basis of the melodic material is the complementary pitch-class set 9-12: also known as Mode 3 of Messiaen's modes of Limited Transposition. the unordered pitch-class intervals of the 3-12 are equidistant thus denying an supremacy of any pitch-class, an allusion to the Trinity. Furthermore, the subsets of 3-1 from the 9-12 are also equidistant. Finally, the tune HERZLIEBSTER JESU, often associated with the Lenten text "Ah, Holy Jesus," appears in the first and third movements. This is not to imply the heresiess of Monarchianism or Subordinationsim, but rather to emphasize the necessity of all three person of the Trinity, their relationship, and deity of each is dependent upon the others.
