This study examines the lives of Catharine Beecher, Elizabeth Peabody, and Mary Ware. An analysis of their lives yields answers to the question: How did the Unitarian controversy affect the private and social lives of these women? In addition, this study seeks to uncover some of the broader currents of American thought that accompanied the growth of Unitarianism.Files
